All sales of National Firearms Act (NFA) items are non-refundable and non-returnable! NFA items include, among other things, suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and "any other weapons" (AOW).
We are NOT responsible for denied applications/forms from the ATF! You are responsible for knowing your own legal history, and if you can pass a background check before beginning the process.
We can NOT "check" in advance to see if you will be approved.
Customers who have not purchased NFA items from us before will be contacted PRIOR to your order being released to ensure that they understand the procedure involved.
Once the order is released from our supplier, it cannot be stopped/cancelled, and the customer is committed to the sale procedure.
You will not be able to take the NFA product home until your federal tax stamp has been approved. It will remain in our possession until you receive approval from the ATF.
Approvals for properly formatted and submitted electronic individual applications have generally been received within 1-2 weeks, but this may vary with the ATF.
If purchasing for a trust, we STRONGLY recommend that you initially complete the transfer as an individual first. Processing a transfer to a trust takes SIGNIFICANTLY longer than to an individual. Having the item as an individual you can continue to use it until the ATF approves placing it into a trust (which you can do yourself after establishing the trust).
Once your ATF Form 4 has been approved, you must always keep a copy with the suppressor/firearm as proof of legal ownership per ATF regulations.
To speed up the process of buying an NFA item, follow these steps:
If you have any questions, please contact us BEFORE placing an order for an NFA item to avoid confusion or disappointment.
The process is not that difficult but attention to detail is crucial.
Thanks for your cooperation.
Individual Transfers: $85.00 per NFA (National Firearms Act) item transferred electronically
Trust Transfers: $100.00 per NFA item transferred electronically. The higher fee for trust submittals is to account for the increased complexity of submittal, as well as the longer approval times (1-2 months if not longer). WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND FILING AS AN INDIVIDUAL, then moving your items to your trust yourself AFTER you have taken possession of the NFA item.
Paper transfers of NFA items are $150.00 each and are processed by the ATF much more slowly than electronic applications.
NFA items purchased on our website do not require a transfer fee; however, a tax stamp charge from the ATF may still be applicable.
If you intend to transfer to a trust, we STRONGLY recommend that you initially complete the transfer as an individual first. Processing a transfer to a trust takes SIGNIFICANTLY longer than to an individual. Having the item as an individual you can continue to use it until the ATF approves placing it into a trust (which you can do yourself after establishing the trust).
We offer fingerprinting services in EFT file or fingerprint card format. We also offer passport photos on a USB flash drive or hard copy.
Please bring your EFT (Electronic Fingerprint Transmission file format) fingerprints and passport photo on a USB flash drive if you have them.
Conversion of a fingerprint card to EFT format is an additional $35 fee (it may be less expensive for us to create your EFT, depending on the type of transfer).
All required forms/documents/photos will be electronically submitted on the ATF website or via mail for paper applications.
The NFA transfer process cannot begin until we have the item in our physical possession, even if the make, model, caliber, and serial number are known.
Outbound NFA Transfers
To facilitate the sale of your NFA item to a buyer that requires shipping in or out of state, your NFA item must be transferred to Young Guns, and then to the SOT dealer of your buyers choosing. You will need access to your username, password, and PIN for your ATF E Forms account, along with the NFA item present to initiate the process. There is an $85 transfer fee due at time of Form 4 submittal to Young Guns in addition to shipping fees. Shipping rates will vary depending on the size and weight of the package, as well as distance.
If your item fails to transfer to your intended buyer and is returned to Young Guns, you will be REQUIRED TO PAY A SECOND $85 TRANSFER FEE TO REAQUIRE THE ITEM VIA A FORM 4. Until your Form 4 is approved, the item is the legal property of Young Guns Inc.
Form 4 and Form 3 processing times vary and are at the sole discretion of the ATF. Please understand, and respect that this process may take several weeks, or longer, depending on system traffic.
What if my NFA item isn’t being shipped? (ie. Individual-to-individual transfer)
We do not facilitate individual-to-individual transfers, as the updates to ATF E Forms means you can transfer your items either to another individual, or to a trust directly through the E Forms website without the assistance of a SOT dealer. Both you and your buyer will need E Forms access, and your buyer will need digital fingerprints and passport-style photo. If your buyer requires digital fingerprints (EFT format), we provide that service for $85, including a USB flash drive for storage.
